What the %&*! Happened to Comics?
A lecture by Pulitzer-Prize winning, comic book icon Art Spiegelman
Saturday, September 24th from 4 to 7 pm.

This unique event offers fans of the graphic narrative and comic art the opportunity to hear first hand one of the great raconteurs of the medium. Spiegelman takes his audience on a highly entertaining chronological tour of the evolution of comics, emphasizing the value of this medium.

Spiegelman is best known for his comic book memoir Maus – a groundbreaking Holocaust narrative which portrayed Jews as mice and Nazis as cats. In October 2011, Pantheon will publish Meta Maus, a companion to The Complete Maus. In 2005, he was named one of Time Magazine’s top 100 Most Influential People and was made a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France. In January,2011, he received the Grand Prix at the Angoulême International Comics Festival.

A wildly entertaining storyteller, Spiegelman is without a doubt, the master of the comic genre as an art form for grown-ups. Don’t miss this unique event.

General admission tickets ($20) will be available through POP Montréal. VIP tickets ($150) are available through SBC at (514) 861-9992 or by email at info@sbcgallery.ca.
