About Art Pop

The Vision Behind Art POP

Art POP is the visual arts component of POP Montreal. During the festival, Art POP’s mandate is two-fold: to present the works of Montreal’s emerging artists and to help these artists create relationships with international artistic communities. For that reason, Art POP works just as well with community-run spaces and established institutions, such as the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the DHC/ART Gallery and the Canadian Center for Architecture. Exciting, unconventional exhibition spaces are also commonly used, giving the public the opportunity to discover many lofts and forgotten spaces throughout the city. Art POP has grown to a level where it now programs internationally- known artists while ensuring the participation of local artists. Proffering a fusion of worlds, each year’s edition with its own unique angles, Art POP engages its public in experiences that can’t be lived elsewhere. Art POP’s programming and interactive events attracts a demographic already loyal to POP Montreal, while maintaining a dialogue with contemporary art world.
